New Zealand's first smart hotel

Over three years ago, we created the brand identity for what has become New Zealand’s first smart hotel – mi-pad. Forward-thinking, creativity and a great strategy are all critical when launching anything completely new in the market, and mi-pad was no exception. Now officially launched in Queenstown, we’ve helped mi-pad make an impact from the moment they opened their doors.

Mi-pad is a tech-supported smart hotel that allows guests to check in and out, adjust the temperature and lighting of their rooms and more, all from their specially designed smartphone app – mia. The idea behind mi-pad was to provide a streamlined hotel experience, without the usual hassles associated with check-ins, check-outs and room keys. With such innovative thinking and a single-minded focus on the type of hotel experience many modern travellers really want, we decided a streamlined brand architecture would represent mi-pad accurately and help create cut-through in a competitive Queenstown market. To tie the concept together, we developed the tagline ‘mi-pad. your way’ – encapsulating everything that mi-pad represents.

Since launching, mi-pad has been a resounding success. Locals see mi-pad as more evidence of innovation occurring in their city. Visitors love the atmosphere provided within the hotel, as well as the friendly staff and unique hotel experience that can’t be found anywhere else in New Zealand. To top it all off, mi-pad’s premium location at 4 Henry Street means guests are only a five-minute walk away from the shores of Lake Wakatipu – viewable from the best rooftop terrace in Queenstown, situated atop the hotel.
